DISCOVERY; Time to catch up with several albums Mark introduced me to around this time... Ummagumma  had assumed mythic proportions in the ultimate list of the world's must-have albums and Mark had it! OMG, how soon could I come over and listen to it? Cool yer jets, I'll be right there! We listened to it very close, examined the album art in fine detail and pronounced the whole thing a work of exceptional genius. And that was the last time I heard the entire album in one go...

WHERE & WHEN; In fact, I have generally avoided the Pink Floyd catalogue but still regard the early albums as essential to the collection even though I don't go out of my to engage with them. Ummagumma is a pretty cool album though and still assumes mythic proportions in my not quite normal book of musical tastes. It's grungy, experimental, avant-garde and hard to listen to. I like it! Even though I can't remember ever playing it on my own. Worth trying to listen to once or twice anyway. Worth having a copy of just for the cover art and the off-chance you might want to play it some sunny afternoon.

HIGHLIGHTS; I suppose there are, but when it comes right down to it, the main reason we're here is for "Several Species of Small Furry Animals Gathered Together in a Cave and Grooving With a Pict"

STATUS; Must Have
