Side One
The Heavenly Music Corporation

Side Two
Swastika Girls

DISCOVERY; I bought this one for the cover (of course) having less than no idea what it was going to sound like. It didn't really matter. Fripp & Eno were the new gurus. Cultivated and sophisticated. I could go to school with a new found confidence. I would have an album no one else had. I had an album no one else was even aware of. And I listened to an album no one else could have or would have listened to. While the other teenagers were listening to The Captain & Tennille and Elton John, I was listening to an album with no beat, no tune, and no lyrics. Just some funny noises looping and a long laborious squelching guitar solo. I was cool and I had the albums to prove it. It was important not to fit in. Of course my friends were hip to it. I made sure they were hip to it. We were a little self-actualising gang. Insular and hip.

WHERE & WHEN; Over these past 40 years I have managed to sit through No Pussyfooting not more than half a dozen times. I mean, we all knew this was a hip record... everybody knows this is a hip record... everyone knows this now! Hip, but just a tad bit tedious. Maybe this is "serious" music, I'm not really sure, maybe it's just two blokes having a laugh. I tend to want to be rewarded for listening to serious music by an occasional tune, a snatch of melody, pulses of rhythm here and there. No Pussyfooting is commendable in that you'll never find yourself humming along. It will never playback in your head. I suppose that's a good thing. Really, it's more about the owning of than the actual listening to... for me anyway.

HIGHLIGHTS; It's all or nothing really.

STATUS; Must Have
