DISCOVERY; I had to check out the other record shops in Minneapolis so I found one in Dinky Town where all the U of M student/hippies would have gone. The shop was disappointingly normal with a generous selection of folk music. A lot of albums with green and beige covers and the staff appeared to wash and dress themselves neatly. Maybe college students weren't what I imagined them to be. It was off-putting but I had to find something since I'd made the effort to locate the shop. And there it was at the very back of the George Harrison section, Wonderwall Music! A rare item even in 1976. I couldn't believe my luck! Maybe it had been there since 1968 on the verge of a deep discount when this hayseed gasps, cradles the album to his bosom and pays full price for it! What a loon. I can only imagine the stupid blissful grin on my face as I parted with the cash. Seriously, holy grail, none of the other shops had this album. Over the moon I was.

WHERE & WHEN; Wonderwall doesn't seem to have wide appeal, ghastly and strange as that may seem, even the Allmusic guide only gives it two and a half stars? It's is so easily a five star album. Quite easily the best of any solo Beatles album, the best George Harrison album and possibly the best Beatles! Well lets not go overboard shall we. OK, lets! I totally love this album, wore the grooves out, played it more often than any of the others. One of my desert island discs. Can you imagine the legacy if George had pursued music like this?

HIGHLIGHTS; Every bit of it! I can not emphasis enough how cool I think this record is!

STATUS; CD
