DISCOVERY; I bought two albums on my first trip to Oarfolkjokeopus. Country Life and Sticky Fingers. But why travel so far to buy albums you could have got in Coon Rapids? Country Life in Coon Rapids didn't have the ladies on it, that's why! I was living in a cultural backwater and didn't even know it! At any rate, I bought Sticky Fingers because I wanted to look legit, I mean, You wouldn't got to Oarfolkjokeopus and buy an Elton John record. I knew better than that! And except for Beggars Banquet on a shitty tape I didn't have anything by The Stones proper and neither did any of my friends.
WHERE & WHEN; Which album did I like better? Which album got played more often? Sticky Fingers has been on a slow burn. For years I would have said Country Life was the better album and the better band. But The Stones made interesting albums over a longer period than Roxy did. Apples and Oranges a bit I know. Art rock vs something more blues rock oriented. Hard to compare them but the number of Rolling Stones albums I'd listen to greatly outnumber the Roxy Music albums I could entertain, though to be fair, for the years 1973/74 Roxy were much more interesting. Where am I going with this? Buying these two albums on the same day linked them in my mind so you want to be careful. If you're travelling to an exotic record store in a bohemian neighbourhood in a big city for the first time, be mindful of what you purchase. That is all. Oh, and Sticky Fingers is a proper first rate album.
HIGHLIGHTS; Every note!
STATUS; Temporary WAV files, Must Have
