DISCOVERY; Not sure I realised exactly what I was buying. I just liked the cover and knew that I should have some Pink Floyd. I'd only heard Dark Side of the Moon so naturally assumed it would all be in that vein. It only took a minute to adjust my expectations to something more organic and way cooler.

WHERE & WHEN; Early experimental Pink Floyd was always going to be more interesting for me. The first two albums were amazing and after that progressively less and less interesting until they released The Wall at which point I thought what's the point? The first two albums, especially Piper, always deliver, continually interesting records. They conjure a time and place otherworldly but very human.

HIGHLIGHTS; Every note of both albums!

STATUS; Not likely to see A Nice Pair on CD, The Piper at the Gates of Dawn and A Saucerful of Secrets are both essential to the collection
