DISCOVERY; Back in the safe earspace of fab four country smack in the middle of 1965 after the shock to my system of the John & Yoko record. Whatever else was happening in 1972 I was blissfully unaware. The best of it wasn't going to be played on the radio anyway and besides, I really wasn't looking for any artists other than my beloved. There were still Beatles albums to discover. Like Rubber Soul!

WHERE & WHEN; About once a year, space permitting, I will change rooms. If I can't change the physical location of the room I set about changing around everything in it. It started when the folks added on to the house a new bedroom and their old bedroom became available. The cold dark room on the north-east side. It was mine, then it was Julie's, then mine again. Then it became the "office" and I moved to the basement. That's the short version. Rubber Soul arrived during phase two of that scenario. The sunny little room on the north-west side was mine for the time being. Sunny on summer afternoons anyway. It was a small room. Looking out the north window you could see the front yard, the mail box at the end of the drive, fields across the road, the sandy dirt road to the island through the woods which separated the fields. Lovely, but you couldn't put a desk or chair near the window without blocking the closet door. So there was that. The west window looked out onto the deck no one used for the door on one used except the cat. The cat would arrive at around 4 AM every morning and jump up onto the screen door, hanging there by its claws counting on the noise to wake my Mother who would get up and let him in. Their new bedroom was fairly close to the door no one used except the cat. In the little bedroom I was in you'd hear the thump of this large male cat jumping down onto the deck, waiting for the door to open. When the door didn't open fast enough, kitty would jump onto the the screen of the west window of the sunny little room (my room) just trying his luck. That room didn't suit me very long but the new album was fine.
