DISCOVERY; At some point Robert got a cassette deck and at some point I gave him A Wizard, A True Star to play on it. I don't remember him picking up any other cassette releases. Maybe it wasn't his tape deck? Foster brother? Interesting complicated dynamic for a couple of years there. Sean had the room in the basement. It was pretty cool. I don't remember Sean having any records, I think he just had a really nice stereo and listened to the radio. Cassettes didn't catch on until Tony put a tape deck with a power boost in his car. We're getting a bit ahead of the story here. I think what happened is I found this tape in the bargain bin and gave it to Robert for his birthday so we could play it on Sean's cool stereo. We managed to listen to it once or twice, general consensus it wasn't as good as Ziggy, Ziggy being the new standard by which all rock music was now measured.

WHERE & WHEN; Never did have a vinyl copy of this. Got a few other Rundgren albums from the time period that I liked even less. Eventually I got A Wizard, A True Star on CD and eventually listened to it with my daughter Rahina. We were listening to everything in the collection from 1973 which is a very fond memory indeed. I don't suppose there's anything terribly wrong with the album. Side one is more interesting than side two. It's the melodic structures within the framework of favoured chords that bug me whenever I hear a Todd Rundgren album but this album has a certain sentimental attachment for me so I keep it on the list.
