DISCOVERY; First Time I heard this was at David Jenkins house. The album belonged to his older sister. He and I sat on the floor in the living room listening to the entire LP on his parents very nice console stereo. We were not a particularly good influence on each other. At least on this particular day we didn't throw rocks at anyone (they were little rocks) or hatch any harebrained schemes about walking to California. (we didn't get far)

WHERE & WHEN; I got this for my 13th birthday. The album highlighted the limitations of the little stereo I still ostensibly "shared" with my sister Julie. Come Together in particular made the plastic speaker housing buzz. None the less I played it constantly!

In terms of what an album like this means, I can't be critical, having heard it so many times. Such a big part of my life and millions of others. Songs I like better than others almost but I'd say every note of these albums is ultimately a classic just because of the emotional investment. I don't want to hear these albums randomly any more. I would choose a time, either completely alone or with someone who shares the same sense of importance or the same sense of wonder.

HIGHLIGHTS; Come Together - I Want You (She's so Heavy) - Here Comes The Sun - Because - Mean Mr Mustard - Polythene Pam - The End
