DISCOVERY; I had so many Beatles albums at this point, the onerous task of buying me an album for Christmas or my birthday would have been slightly anybody's guess. So my sister Eileen gives me the 1812 Overture by Tchaikovsky. Completely out of left field! I told Robert what had happened. He sympathised and to my surprise and amazement offered me a trade. He was willing to trade his copy of Yellow Submarine which we'd listened to at his house earlier in the year and I knew to be a substantially cool album (side one more so than side two) but he thought it was silly and fancied the Tchaikovsky as he didn't have any Tchaikovsky in his collection and this was Eugene Ormandy conducting and they were using real canons! I listened to the bit with the canons and thought that's a lot of effort just to make a bunch of noise and what if the canon balls hit somebody? Tchaikovsky could be a bit over enthused sometimes. I was all too happy to trade him off for my beloved four.

WHERE & WHEN; What do we want? More Beatles! What did we got? More Beatles! OK, so it's only one side, hush now! We've got some of their most psychedelic Beatleness going on here and Hey Bulldog is one of the coolest tracks they ever did. So I listened to side two once... but I've heard it again fairly recently and it's not that bad. Goes with the film really well.
