DISCOVERY; Hanging out with Robert for a few more albums. Robert only lived half a mile away, up the island road and across the big field south of Lake George passed the second set of Indian mounds. I used to dream about being a native American before the area was invaded by my ancestors. One dream was of burying my mother in the mounds. This was before I knew those little hills by the lake were burial mounds. So that's interesting. Anyway... something of a competition may have crept into our record buying habits. A little competition amongst my friends. Who could impress the others with their latest acquisition. Robert plucked this David Bowie album from the bargain bin. At first we weren't even sure it was a David Bowie album! "It's daft but I kind of like it." said one of us. "Yeah, I kind of like it too." said the other. "Nothing like Ziggy." said one, "No nothing like Ziggy." said the other. I wonder now, all these years later, if David Bowie appealed to those kids who liked to dress up and play act.
WHERE & WHEN; As luck would have it, shortly after Robert got this album I found the sheet music thus proving it was indeed David Bowie. All of these songs became part of my piano repertoire and deeply engrained into my psyche.
HIGHLIGHTS; All of it! I love this album.
STATUS; The Deram Anthology 1966-1968 CD
