DISCOVERY; From Mr Smith's Box... I didn't know what to make of this one. I recorded the songs I had sheet music for, That Would Be Something and Maybe I'm Amazed. Also recorded Junk. Had those on tape for ages before I got the album proper at which point I still didn't know what to make of it.

WHERE & WHEN; The album is a mess but kind of a romantic mess. Some poor rhyming schemes here and there and of course some very primitive recording techniques and playing. You know that's exactly what I like about the album. That and the album art. I mean, it's ballsy, record an album on your own with a primitive tape machine and then give it a gatefold album jacket with a superb photograph on the cover. Commendable! Taken as a whole which the album has to be, it's a lonely little world, sad Beatle Paul rolling spliffs, not shaving his face, trying to play the drums bless him. A wonderful artefact that I need to include in my funky collection.

HIGHLIGHTS; Every Night - Junk - Valentine Day - Hot As Sun/Glasses - Teddy Boy - Momma Miss America

STATUS; Must have
