DISCOVERY; Lets catch up with what Robert and Mark were adding to the mix... Robert was branching out quite a bit. He picked up this ELP album and their Trilogy album, both of them interesting but Tarkus more so. I would say this album is a high-water mark for ELP and possibly for progressive music only I like Brain Salad Surgery better because I heard it first or because I heard it more frequently as that was the only ELP I had.
WHERE & WHEN; We listened to these progressive albums and thought they were radical and massively cool until punk rock reared its spikey haired head but there I go again, getting ahead of the narrative, events happening out of sequence... it all depends on your perspective. Which came first, the chicken or the Tarkus? Who's afraid of a little prog?
HIGHLIGHTS; The whole thing! Basically, this album is a lot of fun. Play it loud!
STATUS; Must Have
